5th class performers in their ‘Inventions’ show today.

Good afternoon parents and guardians,

I don’t know where to start when it comes to the fun we’ve had this week! Thanks to Peadar, we had a jam-packed week of activities all centred around the theme of literature and storytelling.

Our week began with storytellers visiting on Monday to work with all of our infant classes, while 3rd and 4th classes enjoyed an engaging theatre workshop. Today, 5th class treated us to a wonderful drama performance based on inventions, and we finished the week with a whole-school assembly where representatives from each class read extracts from their favourite books to the entire school community.

One of the highlights of the assembly was singing “My Roots Go Down.” The song felt especially meaningful as it connected so beautifully with the trees planted at the front of our school when we first moved onto this site.

We finished the day beautifully accompanied by Paul, Rachel and Béibhinn as we sang our anthem, “D7 Forever.” A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful children, who transformed the sports hall from theatre to sports hall to Little Learners in a matter of minutes!

We hope you all enjoy the week off, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, May 11th.

Have a lovely break everyone!

We celebrated the start of summer with colour, maypole dancing and singing under our beautiful trees.

GAA Update

Both D7 teams had a successful week ending top of their respective tables and have now qualified for the knockout stage.

The Boys started first on Thursday with a comfortable win v Christ the King in the Bogies on Thursday. They were always in front and in the end they even strengthened the opponents by lending a few players. The next match will definitely prove more of a challenge.

The Girls started the week with a walkover when An Seachtar Laoch were unable to field a team on Monday. On Friday we found ourselves in a similar situation when we were struggling for lifts, thanks a million to Martina for her double run. Thankfully our opponents recognised our difficulties, and they only played 12-aside until our full complement arrived at the halftime whistle.

While our opponents were smaller than D7, they didn’t lack tenacity and were right in the game until the interval. With the arrival of our cavalry, the second half proved to be a different matter and the D7 girls took over with a masterful display of score taking. The final score was a bit unfair on NDNSP who battled to the end when it finished D7 7:4  NDNSP 2:1

There will be a free week when we return; however, training will continue as normal on the Mondays until we’re both in action again which provisionally should be home fixtures on the week of May 18th.

D7 Girls Soccer won their 3rd league match on Thursday. They took on their opponents Paradise Place ETNS with the final score being 4-0. The girls put in a great effort and were thrilled with this win. It was a great day for the match with the fabulous sun shining down in Grange Gorman. Well done 6th class girls.

Niamh’s 6th Class took part in a hands-on art project this week that brought their creativity to life – literally! The students designed and crafted their own clay portraits, carefully shaping facial features, expressions, and unique details to reflect their ideas. Once the clay had dried, the children moved on to the next exciting stage: painting. Using a wide range of colours, they added personality and vibrancy to their work. From bold, bright designs to more realistic tones, each one became a true reflection of the individual artist behind it. The finished portraits are now proudly displayed in the classroom, and they have certainly impressed everyone who has seen them.

Well done to all of 6th Class for their fantastic effort and imagination!
