Good afternoon parents and guardians,
I hope you have all had a lovely week. The children certainly need a well-earned rest this weekend after a very busy and active week in school!
A huge thank you to Padraig for arranging such fabulous activities for all of us this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed them.
Our 6th Class pupils are definitely on the countdown now as they prepare to graduate next Friday. A very special thank you to Abi’s dad for the enormous undertaking of designing and producing a yearbook for the students. What a wonderful keepsake and memento for each of our graduates to treasure in the years ahead.
Graduation will take place at 11.00am next Friday. We are allowing our graduates a slower start to the day, and they may arrive at school at 10.00am.
Before then, our final request to 6th Class is that they arrive at school for an 8.20am departure to the Velodrome on Monday. Many thanks to Dublin Bay Cycling School for organising this special final day out for our graduates.
We are delighted to say that two pupils from our school have been awarded prizes in the Stonybatter Festival art competition. Cara (4th) and Cora ( 1st) will have their work displayed via projector in a room in the Holy Family Parish Centre at the festival launch this evening and again on Saturday from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.The results will be officially announced on the main stage on Sunday at approximately 4.00pm. finally, their posters will be displayed in the window of L. Mulligan Grocer during Sunday’s Family Fun Day.
I am sure I will see many of you at the festival over the weekend. Enjoy the festivities!
Finally, last year we asked if any families had spare scooters at home that they would be willing to donate, and we were very grateful to receive a number of them. The children in our ALC are really enjoying using the scooters as part of their activities. If anyone has a scooter at home that is no longer being used and would be suitable for donation, please let me know. We would greatly appreciate any contributions.
GAA
As we approach the end of the school year, I’d like to thank all of the children who participated in our Gaelic teams during the year, which culminated in our fabulous day in Croke Park. We are already entering our teams for September when we will be into action from the very start with the Gaelic Football Cumann na mBunscoil leagues beginning in early September.
As the season is now finished, we need to gather together any jerseys the children might have brought home. I would appreciate it if you could check the laundry baskets and gear bags for any stray D7 jerseys. Keep up the fitness over the summer and we’ll be ready for action come September.

Chat Show as Gaeilge with Tom and Oscar
As our 6th Class pupils get ready to leave us next week, Enda’s class delved into old footage from 4th Class and put together a short film which features a tense sit down agallamh between Tom and Oscar. We never did figure out the identity of the mystery pupil who always took the last piece of fruit and never put the empty bag in the bin…one of D7ET’s great mysteries. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí!
GDA message
Grangegorman playground is officially back in use from today.
This follows the successful completion of resurfacing and upgrade works that have taken place over the past few months.
The improvements include:
- New safety surfacing across the playground
- Installation of a wheelchair-accessible mobility swing (suitable for up to two-wheelchairs at a time)
- Repairs to existing play equipment, including the zipline
- New benches and bin
- Graffiti removal
We would like to sincerely thank the community for their patience and support throughout these works. It has been a long process but we are thrilled to see this much-loved amenity finally reopen to the community – and just in time for the Stoneybatter Festival!
