Tuesday, June 23rd was D7ET school sports day. As usual, the weather was sunny, if a little heavy, and many parents took the time to attend with their families, giving the day more of a party atmosphere, than a competitive event. All classes participated, with parents, staff and toddlers getting involved also. Races involved bean-bag throwing, hoola-hoop wriggling, show-jumping, ball-bouncing and straight sprinting. Junior infants gave a lesson on coordination with their parachute drill, but some adult racers showed less restraint, speeding off before the starting whistle had sounded. By 12:00 o’clock, the competitions were over, and everyone took a rest on the grass with their lunches. Certainly, the St. Joseph’s field will be missed when we make the move next year to Grangegorman. Below is a selection of photos from the day’s proceedings.
