National Tree Day 2014 (Claires Class)

National Tree Day took place on the 9th of October. In order to celebrate our native trees 3rd Class began looking at the oak.

This Friday both 3rd Classes strolled to the Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin , in order to further their knowledge. They went on guided tours which took in a variety of trees, the viking house and Ireland’s only tropical rainforest!

Pupils recorded interesting information and gathered leaves to be pressed. They closely examined the sessile oak, one of Ireland’s two native oak trees. Veronica, our tour guide, introduced the pupils to the Katsura tree, the hawthorn and the lime tree also.

Many thanks to the Botanic Gardens for facilitating us.
