BIRTHDAY POEM (2nd Class, Peadar)

Poem: “This is The Day”

Some ways I might preserve my birthday.
Hide it behind a map.
Stick it in a bog, like the men in the museum.
Put it in the fridge, behind the spinach, as no one looks there.
Bury it like a dog with a bone, or like pirates, with a map.
Put it in a Book of Dreams, flattened like a leaf.
Hide it under my bed, like a money stash.
Put it in a bottle, throw it out to sea. Maybe it will come back.
Put it in a jar, steamed and tightly lidded.
Leave it in the attic, with cobwebs and bats, until you find it again someday.
Take a picture, stick it on your desk.
Wrap it in a cosy duvet and put it to sleep.
Mummify it and place in a pyramid with a maze.
Throw volcano ash over it, and dig it out later.
