Santry Sports 2012
Santry Sports came round again this June. This year, the school sent four relay teams for both boys and girls, as well as sprinters, high jumpers and distance runners.
The weather was fine for both Field (May 28) and Boys’ Track (Jun 6th)events, but the Girls event (Jun 7th) was marred by poor weather. Rain blew into the furthest recesses of the stands, and it looked at one point as if the event would be called off. Well done to the organisers for persisting with the schedule.
Thanks also to Mary McKenna for her work with the school. Many of the school’s pupils are enrolled now with her running club, and the results are starting to show.
This year’s winners included:
Ciara Hanley (Gold for both 500m and Girl’s 4X100 relay), Ella Mae Cromie (Silver in Girl’s 500m), Eppie Ni Dhiarmada (Golds in Jigh Jump and Girl’s 4x100m relay), Aoife Mitchell and Aisling Hannon (gold in girl’s u-13 4x100m relay), Mabel Thew, Nora Redmond, Nina Graham and Caitlin Mitchell (Bronze in Girl’s U-11 4x100m relay),
Jacob O Regan, Maxime Arnold, Ahmed Rathore and Sean Harper (Bronze for Boys U12 4×100 Relay
