Santry Sports, June, 2010

This year’s Inter-Schools Dublin Athletic Championships, Cumann na mBunscoil, were held in the Billy Morton Stadium, Santry on Wednesday June 9th. The school was well represented, with 35 athletes from the school qualifying. Mary McKenna had been training children at the school for months previously, and the work paid off, particularly in the relay events, where we qualified for three finals. Although there were no medals this year (apart from a gold in the High Jump – well done, Hazel), it was a very creditable all-round performance, and not one pupil was left behind afterwards. Thanks to all the parents who helped out with lifts home.

“Although lots of our relay teams got to the final, we had very tough competition. Our sprinters also did very well. Even though we got no medals, our school is improving each year. We would also like to thank the staff that brought us there, and Mary McKenna for our training sessions, which really paid off. In all, I think everyone had a super day.”
