D7 colleagues standing together in recognition of secretaries and caretakers.
Good afternoon, parents and guardians,
I hope you’ve had a lovely week.
I must say I am very disappointed that there has been no progress in the caretaker and secretaries’ strike. One child looked at the notice on the staffroom window advocating pension parity and mistakenly asked if we were having a pension party in the staffroom! Believe me, we will certainly have a pension party when this issue is resolved.
It is very difficult to operate a school without our caretakers and secretaries on site. To add to this, we unfortunately had another bike theft today. I have spoken to the children about the importance of locking their bikes, and again, can any child who is cycling to school ensure their bike is properly secured. I have also met with the Gardaí this afternoon, and we very much appreciate their support.
On a brighter note, our Junior Infants have had a wonderful start to their school year with reduced hours. They are now ready to stay for the full school day. At 8:30, when the bell goes, I ask all parents and guardians to please stand back from the line so the children can go into school with their teachers. They are already showing great bravery and maturity—well done to them!
Finally, if you have a moment, please take some time to read the permission forms sent out on Aladdin earlier this week and sign off on them for the school year.
Thank you, as always, for your support.

I hope this message finds you well. Our club is at the heart of the community, offering football, hurling and camogie activities for children, and we are currently inviting boys and girls under the age of 12 to join our teams.
Team sport provides so much more than physical activity. It helps children build confidence, learn the value of teamwork, and develop friendships that last well beyond the field. Being part of a club also strengthens community spirit, giving young people a sense of belonging and pride in contributing to something bigger than themselves.
We would be delighted if you could share this opportunity with your pupils and their parents. Whether the children are completely new to sport or already have some experience, they will be warmly welcomed. Our focus is on participation, enjoyment, and skill development in a supportive and inclusive environment.
If any families are interested, they can contact us at Chairperson.stbrendans.dublin@gaa.ie or 0879747908 for further information on training times and registration.
Thank you very much for your time and support in encouraging the next generation to take part in sport and community life.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries.
Is mise le meas,
Cathaoirleach
