4th class visit Andy Warhol Exhibition
Good afternoon parents / guardians,
I hope you have had a nice week.
We had a lovely start to our day as Paul’s class sang some festive songs. Well done Rang a trí. You were fabulous. I believe they also got to serenade David Brophy in TUDublin and he was very impressed with their musical talent.
The school was very quiet today as many classes were out and about enjoying the bonus of being a city centre school.
Thanks to Esti, our 5th class children got a surprise visit to the Ark to see a wonderful production of Giggler Treatment. The children said it was just fabulous. https://ark.ie/events/view/the-giggler-treatment-2023
Enda’s class had the privilege of going to the Andy Warhol exhibition while 6th class had a guided tour of Glasnevin Cemetery.
Student Council
Votes were carefully counted for our student council elections today. Thanks James and Orla for your help with this.
Our new Student Council candidates are as follows
6th class – Esther Finnegan
5th class – Alice Coughlan
4th class – Frank Kenny
3rd class – Cloe Meehan
ALC – both candidates got the same number of votes – Magnus Keenan and Ameera Alfroze
Giggler Treatment
Our review on the Giggler Treatment, the musical (based on the book written by Roddy Doyle)
By Alana Ferguson, Senan Dunphy and Ivy Owens.
Giggler treatment was hosted in the Ark gallery. Both 5th classes saw the performance. First they showed us to a room and we put our coats there and then showed us to the actual theatre. We had to wait until everyone was seated for the musical to start. We were seated in rows. It was a very funny play with songs that were very well done. There is a lot of humour and jokes every now and then, but it was also a little bit serious with some messages. What age should go see it? It was very entertaining and humorous so we would recommend ages 4+.
The Ark is in Dublin 2 but if you would like to see it it is also €5 per person. The ark is a theatre and also a workshop space upstairs. At the Ark you can watch musicals and plays and in the Ark theatre the audience is around the stage. About 120 people can see each performance.
We all enjoyed the performance and the jokes were a great laugh for all of us.We would definitely recommend the performance to watch as a family and all ages would love it.
We would like to thank Logan’s Mum for inviting us to the performance.
Giggler Treatment Dance Workshop
Donna’s Junior Infants went to a Giggler Treatment dance workshop with Monica Munoz from The Ark at Cabra Library this week. They had a great time and they took the long trek to the library in their stride.
1st Class planting
First Class planted garlic, rhubarb and spring bulbs in Grangegorman this week. We are looking forward to tending to the plants in the Spring and seeing the results later next year. The beds will be covered over next week to keep everything safe over the Winter break. Thanks to Catriona Kenny and Connecting Cabra for the bulbs.
6th class debating
Yesterday our 6th class debating team had their second round of the Concern Primary Debates. Their opposition this time was a team from Inchicore N.S. They were proposing the motion that ‘Getting rid of Plastic Pollution in our Oceans is just a Dream’.
Well done to Art, Eva, Sophie and Isabelle who represented our school so well. They presented their argument with such ease and confidence, and we are so proud of them.
Thanks also to their coach, Wesley.
Glasnevin Cemetery Tour
All three 6th Classes had the opportunity to visit Glasnevin Cemetery on Friday, Dec 15th. It was a beautiful still winter morning which made the walk all the more pleasant. On arrival we were greeted by our guides for the tour and they engaged both tour groups for the duration of the visit with some very interesting facts and stories of the famous people buried within the walls. The highlight of the tour was our visit to the O’Connell family Crypt, located underneath the Round Tower. We manage a quick visit to the museum building before heading back to D7 where we arrived in time for yard.

Andy Warhol Exhibition
Enda’s 4th Class visited the Hugh Lane Gallery on Friday for a guided tour to see the works of pop artist Andy Warhol. The exhibition includes more than 250 of Warhol’s works borrowed from museums and private collections around the globe, including his Campbell’s Soup Cans and prints of Marylin Monroe. The pupils highly recommend a visit before the exhibition ends in January 2024.
