6th class trip to Delphi in Connemara this week
Good afternoon parents and guardians,
I hope you have had a nice week. We are busy in school preparing for our big 25th birthday celebrations and official opening, which will take place next Friday. There’s a lovely celebratory atmosphere in the building this week as we prepare our songs and artwork for our invited guests.
Thanks to Stephen and the Stay and Play children last night, Martin said we turned our sports hall into the “Olympic Theatre” for the rehearsal today.
We are also looking forward to Arts Week next week, thanks Peadar for coordinating.
School was a little quieter for the last 3 days while our 6th Class were away in Delphi Adventure Centre with Niamh Ní, Enda, Patrick, and Bridget. A huge thank you to all our staff for accompanying them and looking after them so well. They are on a very quiet bus home now — exhausted from all the fun they’ve had!
All three 5th Classes collaborated to take to the stage today for their interpretation of ‘The Story of Ireland’. The play took place over 7 acts and cast a wry eye backwards to the mythological tale of The Salmon of Knowledge and working through some key eras and events: The Vikings, The Black Death, The Spanish Armada, The Great Famine, 1916 Rising and The Emergency. A veritable black cabaret variety performance, complete with dances, musical numbers, sketches, raps and sets all written performed and created by the students.
The performances were a huge success, and it was fantastic to see the children showcase their many skills and talents.
Thanks to those who were able to make it.
We were delighted that their hard work paid off and are extremely proud of their efforts and performances.
Wesley, Donna, Peadar and Lauren.
Summer Fete June 22nd

Spread the word

We are inviting all our past pupils back to summer fete on June 22nd.
D7ET Sweet Cafe

The D7ET Sweet Cafe is asking for donations of buns, cakes, biscuits, tray bakes, cookies, or any other type of sweet treats for the Summer Fete. All items should be nut free in line with the school’s policy, and any allergens clearly labelled. Goods can be delivered to the cafe in the main hall from 10:30 am on the morning of Sunday 22nd June. All donations will be gratefully received! Thank you
Rowing regatta

Well done to our 5th and 6th class children for competing in their first rowing regatta!
They performed admirably, and it was a great introduction to the competitive side of the sport. Hopefully, the experience has sparked an interest that will encourage them to continue with rowing—or perhaps return to it later in their teenage years or as young adults.
Thanks, Martina, for taking the children to and from the event. Thanks also to Johnny, our new taxi driver, who took the remaining children.
Finally, thanks to Bridget who accompanied them.
Garda visit

Ronan’s dad and his colleagues Marian and Georgina visited Michelle’s First Class on Wednesday 11th June. The children were thrilled to meet real-life Gardai and to learn about their important role in keeping communities safe.
During the visit, the Gardai spoke about following rules and keeping safe at home and in school. The children had the opportunity to ask questions and tried on parts of the uniform.
The children got a close up look at some of the specialised Garda equipment. They were shown walkie-talkie radios, batons, pepper spray and even handcuffs. They explained when and why each piece of equipment might be used, which helped the children understand when it’s necessary to keep situations under control.
It was an educational, fun and memorable event and certainly one of the highlights of First Class this year.
Emerald Park

The weather was unable to prevent a fun day on Thursday as both 4th Classes enjoyed a fun visit to Emerald Park. The day started with a light drizzle as D7 were the first school to arrive at the gates to the park. This allowed the children to get their pick of rides with no queues.
Having established a base, the fun began. Cuchulain proved very popular as well as Fianna Force. The earlier drizzle soon turned into a deluge however the spirits remained undaunted. Following lunch, the end of the day was looming, and the chase was on to complete as many rides as possible.
The return journey was uneventful, and we arrived safely back in D7, damp but delighted.
Padraig.

Best wishes Fred as he is part of the Dublin handball team in the Friendship Games in Belfast

Well done to our children who were finalist in a recent chess competition.
