MATHS WEEK 2019

MURDEROUS MATHS
On Monday, Ruth’s 6th class went to the Helix to a Murderous Maths show with Kjartan Poskitt, the author of the mathematical equivalent of the Horrible Histories. Kjartan kept the audience highly entertained with many fascinating puzzles and brainteasers. Some of our favourites were using Pascal’s Triangle to calculate ice cream flavour combinations, the disappearing ships in the Bermuda Triangle and the Hare and the Tortoise Race. There is lots to discover and learn on Kjartan Poskitt’s website http://www.murderousmaths.co.uk/. He really brings maths to life and makes it fun!

MATHS FAIR
All classes visited the GP room for an hour to play a range of maths games. Games rotated every 5-10 minutes.

MATHS TRAIL
This pic is a busy 2nd Class on a maths trail about the school. The 4th-6th trail involved riddles, lock combinations and computer passwords.

JELLY BEANS
BY the time the beans were guessed correctly, most of them had teeth marks. Luckily, the prize was a book voucher.

Assorted jelly beans. Colorful image great for backgrounds. Far shot.

SURVEY
Maths survey across the school was on fruit and vegetable eating habits. Despite the school’s healthy eating policy, it came as something of a shock to learn that so many children consider battered deep fried Mars bar to be healthy. It must also be repeated that fruit flavoured Skittles contain little or no Vitamin C.
