End of Newsletter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we come to the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to reflect and express heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this year such a success for our school community.
Our dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to support our students. I extend sincere thanks to our incredible teachers, SNAs, our In-School Management Team – Carol D, Pádraig, Ciara, Peadar, Patrick, Katrina, Gráinne, and Anna – as well as Martin our caretaker, Celine and Aoife, our bus driver Johnny, and our cleaning staff Agnieszka, Kasia, and Alona. Thank you also to Sandy, our lollipop person. With over 60 people involved in the day-to-day running of the school, it’s thanks to their dedication that everything runs like clockwork.
As the school year closes, we must also say some fond farewells.
Best wishes to Donna as she begins her maternity leave.
Eimear is heading off on her travels – we wish her all the best; her Junior Infants will certainly miss her.
We wish Jack well as he relocates to the west of Ireland.
Kathleen is taking up a contract in the midlands.
Congratulations and best wishes to Emer and June on their retirement. June has been an SNA at D7ETNS for an incredible 20 years, and Emer has been a valued support teacher for 10 years.
Liam Dunne, SNA, will be starting the PME in Marino this September – comhghairdeas! We hope to welcome him back one day as a teacher.
We also send our best to Katie Rose, who will be taking some time to travel next term.
We’re excited to welcome some familiar and new faces next year.
Welcome back to Arlene, who will be returning to Junior Infants. Her little boy Paddy is almost one year old!
A warm welcome to Jennifer Cassidy, who will be joining the teaching staff and taking 4th Class. She recently visited the school and her new class, where the children eagerly asked her all the important questions (e.g. “What’s your favourite subject to teach?” and “Do you have a dog?”!).
Welcome also to new teaching staff Cara, Lauren, Lia, and Christine, who will be job sharing with Róisín.
Our staffing schedule for next year is outlined below. Where possible, students met their new teachers and visited their classrooms last week.
We also bid farewell to some families who are relocating. Your children will be missed, and we wish them every happiness and success in their new schools.
A huge thank you to the staff who coordinated our specialist weeks this year: Friendship Week, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Multicultural Day, Maths Week, Active Week, and Arts Week. These events were filled with enthusiasm and expertise, thanks in no small part to the parents and guardians who came in to share their skill and time.
Míle buíochas to our Board of Management for their unwavering support. Thanks Paul, Chairperson, Stephen Kenny, Treasurer; Gráinne Gannon, Secretary and Teacher Nominee; Aoife McArdle and Danielle Clarke Collins, Community Nominees; Gary Fitzgerald and Joana Messias, Parent Nominees.
Thanks all for the for invaluable financial and practical guidance with managing our big school.
As we wrap up this fantastic school year, I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to the PGSA for your tremendous support. Your contributions—whether through volunteering, donating, or simply showing up—made the Summer Fete, Winter Bazaar, table quizzes, and many other events a resounding success. Your support helps raise vital funds and creates joyful, lasting memories for our children.
A special thank you to Rónán, our amazing PGSA Treasurer. Over the years, he has done so much more than manage the accounts—he’s gardened, swept, picked up litter, and welcomed new parents, all with quiet dedication. We will truly miss his calm and capable presence. Thank you, Rónán, for everything.
Thank you also to Louise, Jen, Karen, Ciara, and Peter for attending PGSA meetings, and to our fantastic class reps for their teamwork and enthusiasm. Every fundraiser felt like a whole-community effort.
We send our very best wishes to the 32 families graduating from D7 with our 6th Class students. You are a big part of our school’s fabric, and your presence will be greatly missed. You are now free to delete the Aladdin app!
Although the school term has ended, we were delighted to welcome 80 children to our Summer Programme this morning. It is already going very well! Huge thanks to Grace and Niamh B for their meticulous planning, and to the many full-time staff who returned to help. The familiar faces have made for a smooth and enjoyable experience, and the children are thoroughly enjoying the activities.

Planting

I am not sure If you got a chance to go onto our back yard during Summer Fete or graduation.
We grew peas, potatoes, spring onions, borage, nasturtiums, sage, rosemary, lavender, and thyme in our new raised beds. We managed to grow some potatoes out on the patch in front of the sports hall. We also planted a native hedgerow out front this year too.
Well done to all the growers 🌱🌱🌱🌱
Thanks Anna and Patrick for coordinating this.
6th Class Take Part in An Post Future Self Initiative

On Tuesday, Niamh’s 6th Class took part in the An Post Future Self Initiative, where each child wrote a letter to their future self and sent them at Prussia St Post Office. The letters included their thoughts, goals, hobbies, and predictions, and will be delivered back to them in May 2026.
It was a fun and thoughtful activity, helping students reflect on their final year in primary school and look ahead to their future.
Busy 2nd class

Both Second classes had an action-packed week! On Tuesday we had our school tour in Fort Lucan, and we finished the week with a sunny Teddy Bear’s picnic in Great Western Square.
2nd class with their 2nd prize books from the different families same love competition
