Thanks Paul and his 3rd class for their rendition of the song D7 Forever at the official launch of ‘THE GOLDEN BANDSTAND – Sculpture.
Good afternoon parents and guardians,
The building has been quiet this week as we have had no 6th class since Wednesday. They are off in Delphi having their final tour together. They have had a great time by all accounts.
We are asking all families to do a laundry and book check this weekend as we stocktake at the end of our school year. Please check for all Leigh sa Bhaile books, Briathra Irish verbs books, Jolly Grammar and any book rentals that may be in your house. We are getting all our athletics and sports kits packed away but notice many jerseys, socks and t-shirts missing. Please bring them back next week.
We are looking forward to Arts week next week. Peadar has a bumper week lined up for everyone. We are looking forward to a jam-packed timetable of student musical performances, a whole school dance, chimes workshop with Emer and Peadar, mobile music workshop, intercom quiz, Kahoot quiz, harmony with Romey and singing Paul’s anthem D7 song together! Thanks, Delphine, for the bunting. It sets the scene for a week of music appreciation and performance.
Our new Educate Together neighbours at Paradise Place Educate Together NS
This week St. Mary’s Primary School in Dublin 7 has made history by becoming the first Catholic primary school in the state to transition to Educate Together patronage.
The transition was made with a wonderful event at the school. This historic transfer has come about as part of the Government’s ongoing plan to support the reconfiguration of schools from religious to multi-denominational patronage where demand exists for such a change.
It was a lovely occasion where the sun shone, and the children sang beautifully.
Biodiversity Workshop
The three first classes took part in Budding Biodiversity workshops in Grangegorman on Monday with Emer from Global Action Plan. We met her in our Outdoor Learning Area down past the playground (some of you may have noticed the logs there that we are using as stools when we go down!).
First, we discussed the meaning of biodiversity and why it is important for nature to have lots of different things. Then Emer showed us some different leaves which we were able to identify. We had great fun running around within our boundary area finding the different types of leave. Next we played a lovely game which was ‘ Simon Says and build up tag combined’. It was really fun! Lastly, we used viewers to catch and observe different types of mini-beasts. We had to look in different areas to find different types of mini-beasts. Emer asked us to think about what each of them ate depending on where we found the different animals. We came back into the circle at the end to show the different creatures we found to the rest of the class. ‘We loved it’ and ‘it was very cool’. Thanks Emer for facilitating it and thanks Gráinne for organising it.
