Aistear theme for our Junior Infants is camping. What fun they are having!
Good afternoon parents / guardians,
I detected a bit of nostalgia today as we had our last Friday visit to the classrooms in this building. Prepare yourselves for the steps and the views in our splendid new school on our first Friday up there. We love our Friday visits and hope we can continue even in our new school.
Help wanted
We are doing very well with our packing up. Our removals company are definitely helping us woth their guidance and efficiency.
Many of you have been very kind and offered to help with the move.
You may regret this now!
We need some practical assistance next Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Monday – 9am – 10.30am – We have a delivery of 500 chairs. It was going to add a considerable amount to our delivery charge if couriers had to bring chairs to the classrooms.
We are asking for volunteers to carry the chairs from front of the building to their designated room inside. Don’t worry, we can use the lift.
Wednesday 9am – 11am – table delivery
Again, to reduce our delivery costs, we would appreciate help with the table delivery on Wednesday morning.
If you are available for either of these, please email me to let me know so I can gauge numbers and support available.

I hope we can get about 15 volunteers for each day.
Finally, we will put a call out through the class WhatsApp groups for help with giving our classrooms in the old building a last clean before we leave. I am conscious we need to leave this place ready for the new users.
Camogie
Our D7 Girls bounced back from our last setback with a comprehensive victory on Wednesday v St Bridgid’s of Blanchardstown. From the first ball the girls outclassed their opponents and managed to build a comfortable lead in the first half. Using all their hurling nous, D7 were able to rotate our squad releasing our goalkeeper to roam outfield. Our overall superiority yielded a number of beautiful points and will give us a nice platform to build upon.
Our next outing will be a stiffer challenge as we will be facing Gaelscoil Naomh Pádraig away at Lucan Sarsfield’s pitches in our semi-final match. Both teams are only one step away from the hallowed turf of Croke Park with the Boys facing either St Patrick’s Glencullen or Gaelscoil Raghnallagh in their semi-final. Training as usual in TUD on Monday after school. Let’s keep up the momentum, ‘Ar aghaidh linn’.

Soccer
The D7 boys produced a heroic performance to defeat local rivals The Brunner in an entertaining game in Grangegorman today. After storming into an early 2-0 lead, our boys were pegged back to 2-2 by a spirited Brunner side. As the game entered the closing stages the game was tied at 5-5 before Naithí Culhane stepped up to score one of the greatest goals ever witnessed in D7 to win the game.
The match was played in a wonderful spirit and as always, our boys represented the school in the best possible way.

Kilmainham Gaol Visit
Both 6th Classes were fortunate to pay a visit to Kilmainham Jail today. Following an eventful Luas ride, we arrived at the infamous gates. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and we were entertained and enlightened as we made our way through the narrow corridors. Tales of transportation, child prisoners and the contrasting experiences of wealthier prisoners were all highlighted during our visit. We saw the final resting cells of the executed leaders of 1916, and finished our tour in the Stonebreakers Yard, site of the executions. Our tour was followed by a nice break in the grounds of the Royal Hospital where we had some lunch and a run around. For any budding historians among us, this could prove to be the spark that lights the fuse.
Student Council
Thanks to our Student Council, Dulcie and Alannah who helped with the lost property today. Mammoth task considering the amount in our lost property.

Recently, each class planted a tree in our orchard. We are now looking for a name for our orchard We took the first letter from each type of tree we planted and we will use these letters to make a word/name for our orchard. We asked all the students to think of a name for our orchard using those letters. At the end of the week each class will have one name to propose. We will then vote for our preferred name.

Revealing Grangegorman, Lives: 2013/23 – GDA EVENT PLAN

PROPOSAL
Public Talk – Panel discussion, managed & resourced by GDA.
THEME
A conversation between building users, their architects and the Grangegorman master planner, James Mary O’Connor. This event brings together building users and their designers over a period of c.10 years at grangegorman. A collection of neighbours — new and old — from the HSE, TU Dublin and the Dublin 7 Educate Together National School sit to discuss collective life at Grangegorman; the successes, the misgivings, the opportunities yet to be realised and debate the remaining future of the site. It celebrates day-to-day life at Grangegorman against the backdrop its masterplan design principles — and sets out to engage all by listening, learning, and leveraging the value of lived experience as we approach the next 10 years of development.
Revealing Grangegorman is a jam packed two days of celebration and fun for all ages taking place in Grangegorman from 2-3 June 2023. The Grangegorman Development Agency, along with TU Dublin, HSE and Workday are hosting a series of free activities and welcome our community neighbours to take part in the fun with us.
Events include a family fun day, from 12-4pm on Saturday 3 June and will be followed by a family-friendly outdoor screening at 5.30pm. It will include games, rides, buskers, tours, historical talks, performances, exhibitions and even a Grangegorman Alien Mystery Tour!
Friday 2 June activities include a public talk between building users, their architects and the Grangegorman master planner, James Mary O’Connor, bringing together building users and their designers over a period of c.10 years at Grangegorman. The evening will finish with an outdoor film screening starting at 6pm.
There will be something for everyone and we would love if you and your families could come along
Pedalpalooza
Just a reminder that Pedalpalooza takes place this Sunday 21st May from 11am – 4pm in Ringsend Park. They will have a range of activities on the day from bike demonstrations, bike decoration station, pedal-powered challenges, a bike DJ, cycle-themed story-telling and lots of fun family-friendly activities.
