Stunning art – Anna’s 3rd class

Good afternoon Parents / Guardians,

I hope you have had a nice week.

We have had an exciting week here, as always, the highlight being our 6th class singing with the National Children’s Choir in the National Basketball Arena. To get a sense of the work and standard required to participate in this, check out this link

Our D7ETNS children are wearing the sky-blue t-shirts. I am actually listening to it as I write the Newsletter. I am so proud of them all.

We dearly hope to hear them live even once more before our 6th class leave us.

In fact, when I visited our new school on Wednesday, I thought our big hall with exquisite acoustic panels would be the perfect venue!

GAA News – Double D7 Delight

A great start to our campaign on Wednesday 19th when both teams began with hard fought victories.

First up were the Boy’s in Grangegorman where they faced a much bigger Holy Spirit team from Ballymun. The early exchanges were even enough as the boys played into a stiff breeze. With no team yielding an inch, the tackling was ferocious in every corner of the pitch. D7 struck the first blow with an excellent point from a 65. The game ebbed and flowed for the remainder of the half but we went into the half time break with the slenderest of margins.

Ballymun started stronger in the second half and following sustained pressure, managed to sneak a fortuitous goal. The D7 boys responded to the challenge and took the game to their opponents. Taking control of the midfield area, we sent a barrage of attacks towards the opposing goalmouth but unfortunately our accuracy didn’t match the buildup play. With the minutes ticking away, a final push yielded an all-important goal, which nudged us over the line.

The victory was achieved due to incredible tenacity and hard work, but a special mention must go to our goalkeeper who pulled off a series of point-blank saves when our defence had finally been breached.

The girls ventured almost into County Meath to face Scoil Gráinne in a very compact, intimidating venue. Undaunted by the surrounds, the girls kept their composure and played the game on their own terms. The tight pitch didn’t allow for our own natural, flowing game but D7 rose to the occasion and rattled off a few quick scores.

Having gotten their noses in front, they were never going to allow the opponents the opportunity to get back in the game. In the end, their superior fitness and skill levels were enough for a comfortable victory.

The boys were back in action in TUD on Thursday however we faced a sterner challenge in the form of Gaelscoil Míde from Kilbarrack. Our opponents jumped into an early lead that was never reeled in. We managed to stem the tide in the first half and fired over some beautiful scores to balance the scoreboard. Our lads were magnificent and fought for every ball but the better team won on the day.

Both teams have a free week due to the long weekend. We’re all back training again on Monday week up in TUD.

Autism Awareness

As we approach the end of World Autism Awareness month, we shared the links below with all classes to inspire school wide discussion on autism.  Some classes watched videos about autism. If you would like to continue the discussion at home and talk about neurodiversity with your family there are some links below that might be useful.

The Educate Together motto is “No Child Is an Outsider.” Awareness is vital so that no child ever feels this way.

Inclusion is more important than ever before and the first step to inclusion is understanding what it means to be neurodiverse. When children understand, neurodiverse children have a much better chance of being included.
