Senior Football

The senior boys match took place on Thursday afternoon in Grangegorman.  They were playing Glasnevin ET so it was quite the local derby.  Our boys were well warmed up in advance (thanks to help from 3 proud dads – Seamus, Pat and Glenn).  The ref threw the ball in to start the match Tom and Crean both jumped in the air to gain possession.  Crean passed the ball to Tom who went off on the first of his many solo runs of the day.  Glasnevin had a very strong wind behind them and had us under huge pressure.  So many times they looked to be about to score when either Yuhang tackled the ball away or Elliot nipped it out of their hands. Our defence was impressive. Fred and Jude won ball after ball passing it to Luke or Oscar W or Oscar C to start the attack.  Once the ball got up the field the forwards were ready to roll. Iggy and Iarlaith soloed left, right and centre as they tried to break through. The full forward line, with Eden,  Will and Eric ran time after time towards the opposition goal. Rossa and Ervin spearheaded attacks with Ervin coming very close.  The game was end to end and I lost count of how many times Theo charged down a ball or Luka kicked a great pass down the pitch. At half time our boys were just one point ahead and my nerves were on edge. However Teacher Patrick wisely noted “we have the wind in the second half and our boys will fly”. How right he was. We start racking up the scores. Luca got a wonderful goal to settle us. Then Eden scored a smashing point to nudge us further ahead. There was truly an amazing performance by Tom who was team captain. Despite being constantly tackled he glided across the pitch and scored an extraordinary 2 goals and two points. He led us to victory. However, I will have to give my man of the match award to young Shea C. It had been a long tiring match and we were in trouble as the game drew to a close as Glasnevin hammered in shots. Shea must have stopped ten shots on goal with great help from young Elliot. It was a tough match and a great win. Well done boys. Fingers crossed for the next match when we hope to be even better with Jack and Pierre back from injury to help us.

Thanks, Martin, for update.

Úlla Orchard was designed by 2nd class and comprises of 19 fruit trees planted by all of the children from 19 classes in the school.  Julleanne Gee Ho worked with children creating signs  detailing each tree species and a large ceramic wall piece. Úlla Orchard, designed and planted by the children is now  2 years old and a beautiful, biodiverse space for our community to use.

Úlla Orchard  was supported by DCC, Grangegoraman Development Agency, TUDublin.

Attention

The Primary Care Centre would like me to bring this to the attention to our users. I spoke to the children about this today.

This route was created primarily to provide access and egress for vulnerable users accessing the Primary Care Centre services specifically from the North Circular Road Car Park. The route is a narrow footpath with blind spots and not a shared space. The route is not restricted to PCC users but proper care must be followed by all users and those on bicycles and scooters are required to dismount. Also those wheeling scooters and bikes need to be aware that the narrow footpath width is restricted by fencing on both sides which adds to difficulty when meeting vulnerable users.
