Jaic agus an Gas Pónaire

For Seachtain na Gaeilge, Padraig’s 4th Class performed their class Dramaíocht. They started rehearsals at the end of January and auditions followed in early February. From the tiny dwarves to the lead characters, they were all amazing. Musical accompaniment was provided by Oisín and Conor while Tilly was our dancer. With a very busy schedule, the show was performed for both the parents from 4th Class and later for the whole school. Bualadh bos go léir.

Niamh’s 6th Class Visit to Dáil Éireann
Niamh’s 6th Class recently enjoyed a memorable and educational trip to Leinster House. The class was kindly invited by TD Marie Sherlock, who welcomed us and spent time speaking with the children about her work and the role of government in Ireland. During the visit, we had the opportunity to ask Marie Sherlock questions about the projects and initiatives she is currently working on. The discussion gave the class a valuable insight into how representatives work on behalf of the public and how decisions are made that affect communities like Dublin 7 across the country. The class also took part in a guided tour of Leinster House. They visited the Dáil chamber and the Seanad chamber and were particularly interested in seeing the portraits of past Taoisigh and learning about the leaders who have shaped Ireland’s history. One of the highlights of the visit was viewing the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.
The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the students to see Irish democracy in action and to deepen their understanding of how the country is governed. A big thank you TD Marie Sherlock for the invitation and for making the visit so engaging and informative.

Dubray

4th class went to Dubray books on Tuesday to meet author and illustrator Paddy Donnelly. He read us his new book “Upside Down Lighthouse”. We learnt that it is based off a real upside-down light house on Rathlin Island! Hughie in 4th class was lucky enough to be chosen to have a story written about him by Paddy. Then we all wrote and shared our own stories. It was a great day.
Karate

On Wednesday, for PE both 5th classes took part in an introductory karate lesson with Sensei Jimmy. We learned how to punch, kick, bow and show respect. We even learned some Japanese words. We had lots of fun!

Lost Property

Lost property continues to build up each term in D7 ETNS. One of the easiest solutions to reduce the number of lost items is to label clothing items so they can be reunited easily with their owner.
To assist with fundraising and help reduce the level of lost property the PGSA has signed up to MyNameTags.ie school programme.
When families order labels for their clothing through the link below or by using the School ID* 16347 the school will receive 24% of the order total.

GDA
GDA have asked us to let you know that the contractor has confirmed that the hoarding works / installation of flexi bollards in the NCR carpark in the space immediately in front of the pedestrian-only exit will start on Wednesday March 18th.
The flexi bollards are being installed as some carpark users did not realize that this area was not a non-paid car parking space or a valid car parking space and were consequently clamped by APOCA for non-payment and invalid parking. To bring clarity to this situation we are installing flexi bollards in this area as this space is not wide enough to be used as an additional parking space.
The flexi bollard installation will only take 1 day to do but the parking spaces immediately adjacent may not be available during these works – area of the works with the NCR carpark highlighted by red box in the image below

The hoarding installation will take longer (approx. 2/3 weeks to fully replace) and pedestrian access in and out of the NCR car park (to the right of the red box area highlighted in the image above) will only be via the NCR gateway as the pathway that runs behind the primary care adjacent to Ivy Avenue will be closed for the duration of these works.
