Good afternoon everyone,

We had a busy day today with our coffee morning and stone clearing at the front. Thank you to all our parents and our past pupil, Danny, for taking the time to tidy the stones from the front of the building and outside our Assisted Learning Classes.

I hope the parents and guardians from Arlene’s class enjoyed their coffee morning. Thanks to Aaron, Ruth and Vera form 5th who sacrificed pancakes last night to bake some goodies which the staff also got to enjoy!

Next Friday the parents and guardians from Carol H’s class are invited to our Staffroom for a coffee morning.

Book Fair

Our Book Fair has come to an end! We have raised over €5000 for the school, which will be put to good use replenishing class libraries.

Our parent volunteers (Jennifer, Danielle and Andy) and our 6th class Library Committee have been working tirelessly behind the scenes cross-checking orders and ensuring that books get to children as quickly as possible. We know that some children have not yet received their books; these are on order and will be delivered next week.

Míle buíochas to all our volunteers for their time, and to parents, guardians and students for all of your support and patience!

Happy reading,

Ciara

And Míle Buiochas to you too, Ciara, for the many hours you spent coordinating our Book Fair.

We found these on the yard yesterday evening. They are in Celine’s office.

Enda’s 4th Class visited the Chester Beatty Library today for a self-guided tour of the museum. The pupils followed themed trails throughout the museum which took in artefacts from the Western, Islamic and East Asian collections. The museum is free for children and adults and the pupils highly recommend a visit!

Sport in D7

It’s getting very hectic on the playing front in D7 with a plethora of sports overlapping. 6th Class basketballers are training every Monday looking to welcome some neighbouring schools for an upcoming Blitz.

Both soccer teams will be active with training and trials on Tuesday as they prepare for their League and Cup campaigns, which kick off next Thursday with the girls travelling to Donnycarney for a preliminary round of the Cup.

And we’re under starters orders for the annual Bogey’s Cross-Country race at the beginning of March. Trials are scheduled for next Wednesday, when the children will get the opportunity to grab a place on the roster for the event. We always put on a good show at the Bogeys and this year we might even get a dry day!

Aoife’s 2nd class have been learning how to make St. Brigid Dolls. Nora gave us a wonderful demonstration on how to make these wonderful crafts!

School closes today for midterm break.

See you all bright and early on Monday, February 19th.
