Seachtain na Gaeilge – Junior Céilí le Ciara. Shoe the Donkey

Tráthnóna maith díbh a thuismitheoirí agus a chaomhnóirí.

Tá súil agam go raibh seachtain mhaith agaibh. Bhí seachtain den scoth againn anseo i D7 le neart Gaeilge agus cultúr.

Good afternoon parents / guardians,

I hope you have had a nice week. We had a fabulous week here in D7 full of Gaeilge and Irish culture. We enjoyed PE as Gaeilge with 6th class, dramas, class assemblies where the children sang their songs and did their tongue twisters. Unfortunately, we didn’t have our Senior céilí because of the bad weather.

A big thank you to all of you for your Gaeilge sa Timpeallacht contributions.

I hope you all have a lovely St Patrick’s Day.

Rinneamar ár mbrat fhéin le haghaidh Lá Féile Pádraig ☘️

Cross Country

The deluge arrived on cue on Wednesday as the children prepared for the annual visit to the Bogies. With the track reminiscent of the Ploughing Championship, the children all lined up for their various age groups. We kicked off on a high, with victory in the first race of the day, the omens were looking good. Against fierce competition from a plethora of local schools, our children performed exceptionally with many podium finishes in the different categories.

Sheena and Lelia came 1st in their category, Freya and Holly 2nd,   Juliette 3rd, Isla, Iarfhliath and Matthew 4th , Aoife and Shay 5th and Marco 6th .

The organisation was excellent as always and the races ran like clockwork. The conditions didn’t dampen any spirits and the only complaints about the weather were from the faithful supporters. This year the organisers allowed larger teams from schools which gave an opportunity to some children who were experiencing racing for the school for the first time.

As well as our podium finishers, we had many contestants finishing in the top twenty which counted towards the team event. We managed to finish 2nd overall in the Girls and 3rd overall in the Boys.

If anybody would like to try out some more running, Celtic DCH, the co-organisers of the event welcome new members. Further information can be found by emailing celticdch@gmail.com or check out their website celticdch.com where you will find some photos from yesterday.
