4th Class Art

The Viking figures are made from Newclay, hardened over a week, then painted with gum and poster paints. Their fierce faces have been softened a bit by the pastel colours.

The fruit pictured here was drawn from real life. Most of it was eaten immediately afterwards. The hatched lines were done with crayon, and the highlights were rendered with chalk.

The faces were taken from magazine photos. No one in 4th Class recognised Mick Lally (Glenroe) and Bernard Manning (comedian), but drew their faces with character and subtlety.

The Halloween stencils were cut from card, then pasted with crepe colour-paper at the reverse side. They allow translucent light to give them a stained-glass feel.
