BOOK WEEK (2nd CLASS)

Children’s author Natasha Mac a Bháird visited both second classes today to read from her novel, “Olanna’s Big Day”.
The book featured a Nigerian child’s experience of St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland, and gave an interesting perspective on a young immigrant’s life here.
There were many interesting and other questions asked. Afterwards, Natasha showed how a book is drafted and prepared for publication.

COMMENTS:

“Very exciting book.”
“The pictures were a bit strange”
“Would two weeks practice be enough time to play a tin-whistle in a Patrick’s Day parade?”
“I liked seeing how the book was made.”
“The illustrations were colourful.”
“It would have been nice to hear more about how Olanna’s parents felt when they heard she was in the parade.”
