Intercultural Day

D7ET celebrated Intercultural Day on 31 January. Our theme for the day was music. Classes had great fun listening to pieces from cultures near and far, singing songs and dancing. Many thanks to all the parent volunteers who kindly gave up their time to visit our classes.

Dalymount Blitz December 2017

On Wednesday December 13th, both 4th Classes made the short journey on foot to Dalymount. Dublin City Council and Bohemians were hosting a soccer blitz for girls from schools in the local area.  The blitz was preceded by a 6 week block of skills training in the school. We were able to put together two teams from the classes and the girls were cheered on from the stands by their fellow classmates.

Heavy rain in the morning proved to be a deterrent for some of the schools but the D7 girls were up to the task. They each played 4 matches on the hallowed Dalymount turf which has seen many big names over the years. The boys benefited from the absence of other schools and got to play their own games on the pitch also. It was a great opportunity for the girls to try out soccer and they all enjoyed their morning of sport.

Maths Week 2017

The Maths Eyes initiative was well received, with pupils submitting maths-related photos and pics from their home environment.

Collins Barracks Visit 2017

As an end of year History review, Peadar’s 2nd class visit Collins Barracks, and complete a pop quiz on exhibits there. We visited all floors and those who completed the quiz well retain a homework pass for 3rd Class.

6th class graduated today, after 8 years with D7ET. This was the first double stream group to go through the school, so there were two teachers working on the ceremony. Ruth and Ciara led their classes through a Grease dance routine, before they marched out of the school grounds forever, past the traditional guard of honour.
